TF-III Teaching, Learning, and the Curriculum
Educational technology facilitators apply and implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for utilizing technology to maximize student learning. Educational technology facilitators:
A. Facilitate technology-enhanced experiences that address content standards and student technology standards. Candidates:
1. Use methods and strategies for teaching concepts and skills that support integration of technology productivity tools.
I have created lessons which teach students to produce products such as podcasts, and blog entries. Students have created videos as well as a variety of other products.
2. Use and apply major research findings and trends related to the use of technology in education to support integration throughout the curriculum.
3. Use methods and strategies for teaching concepts and skills that support integration of research tools.
Taught students how to effective research topics using both data bases and quick web searches. Students were also used able to use citation tools which allow for quick easy citations on the internet.
4. Use methods and strategies for teaching concepts and skills that support integration of problem solving/decision-making tools.
5. Use methods and strategies for teaching concepts and skills that support use of media-based tools such as television, audio, print materials, and graphics.
Students have been shown how to manipulate images using a variety of applications. They have also created audio podcasts, and lastly video through several different projects.

6. Use and describe methods and strategies for teaching concepts and skills that support use of distance learning systems appropriate in a school environment.
As an instructional technology facilitator I know that teaching students and teachers about distance learning is going to be a key component of teaching and learning in the 21st century. To accomplish this I have attended several workshops on this area of study. These include workshops at the iPad Summit in Boston, MASSCUE over the past several years and other webinars based off of this idea. I have used distance learning as a key to preparing students to learning in the 21st century.
We have also modeled this type of learning in a class which was offered through a college at Sandwich High School. We asked teachers to develop lessons and units based off of ways in which they believe they could flip their own classroom.
7. Use methods for teaching concepts and skills that support use of Web-Based and non Web-Based authoring tools in a school environment.
Authoring is another pillar of teaching and learning in the 21st century. Students must realize that they are not capable of authoring amazing projects and that these projects can have a difference on the world. I have developed a lesson where students create a website of any kind which they would like to explore and then they are responsible for posting several pictures of the world around them.

B. Use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students. Candidates:
1. Use methods and strategies for integrating technology resources that support the needs of diverse learners including adaptive and assistive technology.
C. Apply technology to demonstrate students' higher-order skills and creativity. Candidates:
1. Use methods and facilitate strategies for teaching problem-solving principles and skills using technology resources
D. Manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced environment. Candidates:
1. Use methods and classroom management strategies for teaching technology concepts and skills in individual, small group, classroom, and/or lab settings.
To meet the needs of all students in my classroom and the school as a whole we as teachers train students on a multitude of different technologies which have been brought forth to us as educators. We are now training all students about several different assitive technologies which will help meet the needs of all students. We build these types of activities into the Technology Tools classroom as well as the Freshman Experience Classroom which offers students a great opportunity to experiment with these tools.
E. Use current research and district/regional/state/nation content and technology standards to build lessons and units of instruction Candidates:
1. Describe and identify curricular methods and strategies that are aligned with district/regional/state/national content technology standards.
As a district we use several different standards to guide our practices as teachers. We have developed lesson plans in Atlas Cirrciulum Mapping software which allows several teachers to collaborate on these types of mapping experiences together. We have also recently implemented NETS Standards, MA Technology Frameworks, many more standards to help build our instruction.
2. Use major research findings and trends related to the use of technology in education to support integration throughout the curriculum.
We as a district and technology department have consulted professional technology journals, experts in the technology field, as well as attend several conferences which over the years have helped us to keep up to date with the latest research.
